X-rays are an important and useful tool in the diagnosis and treatment of many dental conditions. However, the old X-ray methods were time-consuming and exposed our patients and team members to unnecessary radiation. Today, Dr. Sutherland’s team uses digital imaging to capture your X-rays in a computer file that can be accessed immediately, stored indefinitely, easily shared with your other medical providers, and manipulated on-screen to better evaluate your dental condition.
The CEREC® system allows us to craft metal free dental restorations for our patients on-site. The benefits of such a system are many: the treatment process is expedited because the dental crowns can be developed during the patient's visit; the restoration can be highly customized for the patient's individual needs, and; the all-ceramic restoration is the same color as the patient's teeth and so blends in.
Tooth-colored fillings are a tremendous dental technology, and they have made traditional mercury fillings obsolete. In addition to being aesthetically jarring, mercury fillings have been shown to cause health problems. Tooth-colored fillings are functional, safe, and appealing, and are just as reliable and durable as traditional metal fillings. Perhaps the most popular dental technology at our Houston practice is the Zoom!® teeth whitening system. Designed to be fast, convenient and effective, the Zoom!® treatment allows us to whiten our patients' teeth by up to eight shades in just 45 minutes. Utilizing a proprietary whitening gel and special lighting technology, the Zoom!® treatment is pain free and the results are long lasting.
For patients with alignment problems, Invisalign® is a revolutionary orthodontic treatment. Customized and replaceable molds that slowly align your teeth into position, Invisalign® has proven very popular with our patients because of its effectiveness and user-friendly nature. The plastic aligners are placed over the teeth, and are nearly imperceptible, which means you can smile with confidence. And they can be removed to eat or clean your teeth, so they work with your lifestyle as well.
