Placing porcelain veneers requires little preparation and can often be done using little or no anesthetic. The process for placing a veneer calls for the enamel of the tooth (or teeth) to first be planed down by approximately 0.5mm so that an ideal substrate can be created for the bonding process. Once the surface has been prepped, temporary veneers are bonded to the teeth to serve as placeholders while the permanent porcelain veneers are being manufactured in a dental laboratory. When the permanent porcelain veneers are ready, you will return to have your temporary veneers replaced. This process is straightforward and simple, and the results are immediate. One of the greatest benefits of porcelain veneers is that you enter the dentist's office with teeth that are damaged or discolored and leave the office with a beautiful, functional smile!
